Susan 1

two-a-week

Sun Jul 27, 2008, 9:21 PM
  • Mood: Exhilarated
  • Listening to: Kate Nash
  • Reading: The Blue Sword
  • Eating: where's my food?
  • Drinking: why don't I have a cherry coke?
I have recently been lamenting how under-read I am, I mean how literarily uneducated I am, how few books, poems, essays, and short stories I have had the pleasure of perusing. Well, really this isn't recent so much as something I've felt since I first learned to read, but RECENTLY the lamenting has turned into bewailing.
So...the point of all this: If I read two books per week, by the end of a year I will have read 100 books, with one extra week for an Alexander Dumas or Victor Hugo. 100 books!
Yesterday concluded my first week, in which I read Asimov's Prelude to Foundation and Richard Adams' Watership Down. I loved them both. Watership definitely gets five stars, and I'm excited to read more Asimov.

Anyway, I'm thrilled with the prospect, and looking forward to a year from now, when I will so much better-read.
